Edgewater, MD 21037-1416

This is the mother of all yacht safety organizations. They write most of the rules adapted as law by the USCG. They are the most active and influential nongovernmental organization in the marine industry. I strongly recommend that anyone you hire in the marine industry be a member of this organization They are that important.

SNAME (Society of Navel Architects and Marine Engineers) since 1996
601 Pavonia Ave.
Jersey City, NJ 07306
800-798-2188
www.sname.org
This is a organization for navel architects and marine engineers. They are mostly ship an navel focused but also have many small craft professionals. I joined this group mainly because of the technical information exchange that takes place with it's members. Their technical publications are second to non, and the information gained from them is often not available anywhere else. If you love tech talk this is the place to hang out.
