ABYC (American Boat And Yacht Council)

This is the mother of all yacht safety organizations. They write most of the rules adapted as law by the USCG. They are the most active and influential nongovernmental organization in the marine industry. I strongly recommend that anyone you hire in the marine industry be a member of this organization They are that important.
NFPA (National Fire Protection Association)

This is the premier organization for fire prevention and safety. Their codes and standards are the benchmark for most industries including the marine industry.
